He studied architecture at the Kraków University of Technology before turning to avant-garde photography, sculpture, and drawing in the 1950s. By the 1960s he had shifted entirely to painting, producing detailed, often macabre imagery that he consistently declined to title. His first period is characterised by expressionistic colour and nightmarish architectural landscapes; a later period moved toward more abstract and formalist approaches. He also worked with digital computer graphics in his final years.

Series Context

This volume is the third in the Beksiński Collected Works series from Éditions Treville.
