French photographer, born Marseilles, 1961
Antoine d'Agata grew up in Marseilles, where his teenage years were shaped by political militancy and proximity to the city's margins. In 1983 he left France, travelling first to Central America before eventually arriving in New York in the early 1990s. There he studied photography at the International Center of Photography, where Larry Clark and Nan Goldin were among his teachers. During the same period he worked in the editorial department of Magnum Photos.
His first two photobooks, De Mala Muerte and Mala Noche, appeared in 1998. The following year Galerie Vu began distributing his work. In 2001 he published Hometown and was awarded the Niépce Prize for young photographers. He continued to exhibit and publish with regularity across the years that followed.
This collection brings together Antoine d'Agata titles available through Lokator100, including Cidade de Pedra, published by Void. All copies are described accurately, packed carefully, and dispatched from Germany. Further titles by photographers working in related territory can be found in the Photography & Photobooks collection.
