Lia Darjes — Photographer and Artist

Lia Darjes, born in Berlin in 1984, lives and works between Hamburg and Berlin. Trained at HAW Hamburg in the class of Ute Mahler, she came to wider attention through Tempora Morte, a documentary still life study of informal market stalls in Kaliningrad — work that established her approach to found subject matter: precise, methodical, resistant to sentimentality. Since 2019 she has been represented by Galerie Robert Morat, and since 2023 she has co-directed the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie alongside photographer Jörg Brüggemann.
