Nikolay Bakharev is a Russian photographer born in 1946 in Mikhaylovka village, Altai Krai, and based in Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo Oblast. Over more than thirty years, he has photographed the people of Novokuznetsk with sustained attention — producing an intimate, documentary body of work rooted in the everyday life of post-Soviet Russia. His practice has been shown internationally, including at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013 and at the New Museum, New York, in 2011.
