Nobody Books: self-published photobooks by Stephen Gill
Nobody Books is the personal publishing imprint of photographer Stephen Gill, founded in 2005 and based in Sweden. It was established to give him full control over the self-publishing process — treating each book as the finished expression of a photographic project rather than a container for images.
Productions are typically issued in small runs. Material choices, paper, binding, printing method, and sequence are treated as integral to the work. Stephen Gill has used lino cut printing, letterpress, mono prints, rubber stamps, and hand assembly in his studio, with each edition arriving at its own physical logic rather than a standard format. The book-as-object ethos is consistent across the imprint.
Recurring concerns across Nobody Books titles include place, memory, and everyday environments. Visual narrative is built through careful sequencing and production decisions rather than through conventional editorial design. The Photobooks available at Lokator100 include a selection of Nobody Books editions held in stock and dispatched from Germany.
