About the Book
1980s Remnants by Daido Moriyama is a remarkable time capsule of Japanese photography. The book brings together photographs from a box of more than one thousand images that Moriyama handed to publisher Michitaka Ota (Sokyusha) in 1987. Over thirty years later, they have finally been shaped into this photobook. The black-and-white images reveal streets, urban textures, and everyday fragments, as well as rare depictions of plants and nature – an unusual side of Moriyama’s vision. Limited to only 300 copies worldwide, this hardcover is a highly collectible work, encapsulating Moriyama’s distinctive view of urban chaos and poetic remnants.

About the Author
Daido Moriyama (b. 1938 in Osaka) is one of the most influential figures of postwar Japanese photography. Known for his high-contrast black-and-white images, he captured the streets of Tokyo and beyond with a raw, fragmented visual language. His works are included in major collections worldwide, including MoMA (New York), Fondation Cartier (Paris), and the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography.
