About the Book
Far East Obsession by Mark Pearson, founder of Zen Foto Gallery, is a limited edition tabloid of 500 copies, published in 2015 by Hiroshi Onishi co., Ltd. The 32 black-and-white photographs, created in collaboration with Chris Shaw and Tokyo Rumando, explore a visual dialogue between subject and photographer. Set in Hong Kong, the work addresses the tension between intimacy, performance, and nude portraiture. Presented in large tabloid format (274 × 406 mm), it stands as both a collector’s piece and a document of experimental Asian photography.

About the Author
Mark Pearson (b. 1960, Newcastle, England) is a photographer, collector, and founder of Zen Foto Gallery in Tokyo. Since 2009, he has been dedicated to promoting Asian photography, introducing both historical and contemporary works to an international audience. His publications include Far East Obsession (2015), One Year, One Woman (2016), and Paris Peep Hole (2019). Pearson’s work bridges artistic practice, collecting, and curatorial vision.
