The issue centres on an extended conversation between Todd Hido and Darius Himes, International Head of Photographs at Christie's. Alongside the interview, the issue presents previously unpublished images from Hido's then-newly released photobook The End Sends Advance Warning. A written response by Jane Slavin — titled Crude Metaphors — engages directly with a selection of Hido's early black-and-white photographs.

About Todd Hido
Hido's photographs are held in the permanent collections of the Getty, the Whitney Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum New York, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Pier 24 Photography, among other public and private collections. His work has appeared in Artforum, The New York Times Magazine, FOAM, Elephant, and Vanity Fair. He has published over a dozen books; Aperture has published his mid-career survey. His monograph Excerpts from Silver Meadows was released in 2013.
