Published by STANLEY/BARKER in 2026, INDEX gathers eleven series from across Christopher Anderson's career, each presented as a discrete saddle-stitched volume and housed together in a silkscreened fluted slipcase. Spanning 320 pages across the set, the publication moves between conflict zones, domestic interiors, political access, and personal geography — a lateral survey of work made over the first decades of the millennium rather than a linear retrospective.
Anderson was born in western Canada and raised in West Texas. He came to international attention through his early conflict work, including coverage in Afghanistan around the time of 11 September 2001 and through the span of the second Gulf War. A subsequent assignment brought him aboard a hand-built wooden boat carrying 44 Haitian migrants attempting to reach America; when the vessel began to sink in the Caribbean, the photographs Anderson made were awarded the Robert Capa Gold Medal. That experience marked a shift in his practice toward a more emotionally direct relationship with his subjects. He became a member of Magnum Photos in 2005, a position he held until 2023, and his work appeared regularly in The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker, among other publications. From 2011 to 2014 he served as Photographer in Residence at New York Magazine. Following the birth of his first child in 2008, he redirected the camera toward family, producing the trilogy Son, Pia, and Marion. In 2025 he photographed Trump's inner circle for Vanity Fair. He continues to work across personal documentary, fashion, portraiture, and filmmaking.

The set was designed by Brian Roettinger. Each of the eleven booklets is saddle-stitched; the slipcase is fluted and silkscreened. This is the first edition, first impression, offered as the unsigned regular version.
About Christopher Anderson
Christopher Anderson was born in western Canada and raised in West Texas. He is the author of nine monographs, including the family trilogy Son, Pia, and Marion. He was a member of Magnum Photos from 2005 to 2023 and has contributed regularly to The New York Times Magazine and The New Yorker. From 2011 to 2014 he served as Photographer in Residence at New York Magazine. Originally recognised for conflict photography — including work in Afghanistan and Haiti, where his coverage of a sinking migrant boat earned him the Robert Capa Gold Medal — Anderson subsequently shifted toward family, portraiture, fashion, and documentary. In 2025 he photographed Trump's inner circle for Vanity Fair. He works now as both a photographer and filmmaker.
