About the Book

With Kurayami (“darkness”), photographer Masao Yamamoto and musician Akira Uchida continue the artistic dialogue they began in 2020 with Sasanami. Divided into two chapters (“Side A” and “Side B”), Yamamoto’s images explore light and darkness as both subject and atmosphere—quietly navigating themes of transience, nature, intimacy, and presence.

His prints, often hand-altered and delicate, evoke a timeless, contemplative mood. Uchida’s music is meant to be experienced in tandem, not as background but as a coequal voice—shaping and being shaped by the images.

Each copy includes a download code for the music by Akira Uchida.
