About the Book

No Fences by Mark McLennan is a lyrical and elegiac photobook exploring the fading myths and enduring spirit of the American West. Shot between 2020 and 2023 across Southern Alberta and West Texas, McLennan’s photographs move beyond highways into shadowy forests, wide plains, and the margins of rural communities. Inspired by 19th-century frontier poetry, this 88-page hardback book with slipcase captures the tension between romantic imagination and contemporary reality. McLennan’s images reveal remnants of a mythic identity—resilient, worn, and evocative—offering a meditative look at landscapes, ranch life, and the poetic isolation of the frontier.

About the Author

Mark McLennan is a Canadian photographer whose work investigates the psychological landscapes of place, memory, and myth. After years abroad, he returned to North America to document rural communities and marginal geographies with a poetic, narrative-driven lens. No Fences is his most personal project to date, blending documentary sensitivity with a visual language steeped in literary tradition.

Packaging & Shipping

We pack books to arrive in the condition described: protected corners, rigid backing, paper cushioning, and a sturdy outer package. Heavier or collectible editions receive an extra layer of protection. Any defects are documented on the product page—packing doesn’t hide condition, it reduces transit risk.

We ship from Germany, usually on the next business day after payment. Germany: typically 2–5 business days, EU: often 3–7 business days; international depends on destination and customs. Tracking is included for all services and is provided once the parcel is handed over to the carrier. During peak periods, transit times may extend. See the Shipping Policy.
