The Twelve Sisters of the Never-ending Castle is a rare Shintaro Kago release built as one continuous story. It runs for 84 pages and keeps a steady forward motion. This is not a grab-bag of shorts. It reads like a single mechanism that does not stop.
Kago’s signature elements stay intact. You get splatter, grotesque sex, and reworked historical fragments. The page design is precise and restless. Backgrounds show handmade patterns. The tension comes from control, not noise.
This Pocket Edition (English) matches the first edition in content. The difference is physical. The book is smaller (17 × 24 cm) and shifts to softcover with flaps. The paper keeps a similar feel, now 120g instead of 140g.
Production is deliberate: black-and-white offset interior, full-color cover, and spot-UV on the cover. The stitched binding is made for repeated reading. The English edition is limited to 750 copies. It is printed on Fedrigoni Arena Natural Bulk.
