Parasitic City #3 – Shintaro Kago’s dystopian parasite manga

Parasitic City #3 continues Shintaro Kago’s longest narrative work, published by Hollow Press in a large A4 format. The series is set in a dystopian world where people’s sins are tracked and controlled through parasites, and future reincarnations can be bought by collecting Haramitsu points. In this third volume Parasitic City #3 pushes the system further and exposes new layers of control.

Kago combines dense panel layouts, diagrammatic humour and abrupt shifts in body logic. References to Western comics and philosophy intersect with Buddhist and other Eastern doctrines. Throughout Parasitic City #3 his ero-guro style remains precise rather than decorative, treating violence, commerce and metaphysics as parts of the same constructed city.

The English edition of Parasitic City #3 is part of a limited, stitched-bound print run. It is aimed at readers who follow Hollow Press, collect Shintaro Kago in translation, or are interested in experimental manga that blurs satire, horror and speculative world-building.

About Shintaro Kago

Shintaro Kago (born 1969, Tokyo) is a Japanese manga artist known for his distinctive ero-guro approach. Since the 1990s he has explored body transformation, social taboos and media structures through formally inventive pages and diagram-like sequences. His work appears in magazines, galleries and editions by publishers such as Hollow Press.

In Parasitic City #3 Kago extends these interests across a sustained narrative. He links philosophical references, speculative technology and everyday behaviour inside one controlled urban environment. For many readers, his books sit between experimental manga, conceptual comics and satirical science fiction.
