About Vincent Peal

Vincent Peal is a Belgian photographer and multidisciplinary artist. His work focuses on communities at the margins of modern society and on the tension between belief and everyday reality. After early activity in the electro-rock group Emma Peal, he turned to photography and film, producing documentaries in Brussels and Super-8 works shot in New York, Paris and Berlin.

Peal has exhibited internationally, including at the Shanghai World Expo, with projects addressing urban poverty, pollution and social exclusion. Rites & Ceremonies of South East Asia extends this practice into the field of ritual photography, concentrating on how bodies, symbols and landscapes interact in religious ceremonies.
