Archive is Sofia Coppola’s first book, edited and annotated from her personal collection. It gathers photographs and working material: early development notes, reference collages, influences, and unseen behind-the-scenes documents. The result is not a “best-of” scrapbook. It reads like a method: how a film is assembled, revised, and refined.
The book follows all eight films up to 2023, from The Virgin Suicides and Lost in Translation to Marie Antoinette, The Beguiled, and Priscilla. An extended interview with Lynn Hirschberg runs alongside the archive material, keeping the focus on process and collaboration.
