About the Book

The Ancient Towers by Chinese photographer Zhang Yu-Ming (Zen Foto Gallery, 2010) presents a profound visual journey through Buddhist stone towers scattered across China. Combining personal devotion with artistic documentation, Zhang photographed over a thousand ancient towers, each preceded by a humble prayer, transforming the series into both an archive and a spiritual pilgrimage. With 40 black-and-white images across 48 pages, the book captures the austere beauty, melancholy, and quiet joy of these sacred structures. This limited edition softcover publication reflects Zhang’s dedication to preserving cultural memory through contemplative photography.
