Japanese Photographer and Photobook Artist
Shinya Arimoto was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1971 and graduated from Visual Arts Osaka in 1994. His practice spans documentary portraiture, street photography, and landscape, with a sustained engagement with Tibet that extends from his earliest work through to recent publications. He is closely associated with Zen Foto Gallery, which has published several of his major photobooks.
Arimoto's Tibet work is defined by close, repeated observation — of people, terrain, and spiritual geography accumulated across years of return visits. His Tokyo series, including Tokyo Circulation and Tokyo Debugger, bring a comparable attentiveness to urban life. The body of work is extensively documented through solo exhibitions across Japan, Europe, and Asia, and is held in public collections including the Kiyosato Museum of Photographic Arts and the Japan Foundation.
At Lokator100, Tibet - Shinya Arimoto — published by Zen Foto Gallery in 2019 — is currently available. Related titles can be found in the broader Photobooks catalogue. All items ship tracked from Germany with accurate condition descriptions.
