Teratoid Heights Museum Edition — Mat Brinkman
Mat Brinkman's Teratoid Heights is published here in a Museum Edition by Hollow Press — a compact, densely composed hardcover that collects Brinkman's cavernous world of tunnels, silent creatures, bricks, ghosts, and recurring rituals. The work is wordless in register, matter-of-fact in tone, and persistent in its accumulation of imagery.
The physical object is built around print presence. Pages are produced by black-and-white offset with deep opaque black ink on Fedrigoni Arcoprint 1.3 ivory 160 g stock, giving the image field a weighted, tactile quality despite the book's small format. The hardcover is bound in Imitlin black canvas with bronze hot-foil embossing on both cover and back. Binding is stitched.
The Museum Edition includes two edition-specific additions: a foreword by Ratigher, and SNOOT, an unpublished Teratoid Heights comic appearing here for the first time. Editing is by Michele Nitri; design by Marco "Keno" Del Negro.
Brinkman is also known as the creator of the cult board games Cave Evil and Warcults, works that share the same dense, grotesque visual language as his comics. Teratoid Heights sits squarely within the tradition of Surreal & Experimental Comics, and functions equally well as an Artbooks & Artist Publications object for collectors attentive to print quality and edition specifics.
