Parasitic City #0.1 is the compact entry point into Shintaro Kago’s Parasitic City project for Hollow Press. In contrast to the later large volumes, this issue reads like a controlled signal: short, full-color, and produced as an A4 booklet. It functions as a prologue in object form—something you can place beside the main chapters to track how the series establishes tone and visual economy.
As an edition, Parasitic City #0.1 keeps its construction visible. The format is large A4, printed in full color by offset, and finished with a stapled binding. At 24 pages, it is intentionally brief, closer to a pamphlet than a book, but still treated as a collectible release within the Hollow Press ecosystem.
This is the English version, issued as a third printing and limited to 600 copies. Credits list Michele Nitri as editor, Marco Cirillo Pedri for graphic design, and English translation by Iain Halliday (Italian translation by Paolo La Marca). For collectors following Kago’s long-form work, Parasitic City #0.1 is the smallest unit of the series—precise, serial, and easy to miss.
Shintaro Kago is a Japanese manga artist associated with ero-guro and formal experimentation. His books are often engineered: panel grids, repetition, and bodily transformation are treated as mechanisms rather than themes. In the Parasitic City series, Kago expands these methods into serialized world-building. Parasitic City #0.1 shows that approach in miniature—compressed into a short, full-color format that still carries the signature precision.
