Parasitic City #3 – Shintaro Kago, English Edition
Parasitic City #3 is the 2025 instalment of Shintaro Kago's serialised long-form dystopia, published by Hollow Press. The series operates on a single premise held to its logical extreme: sins are administered through parasites, and future reincarnations can be purchased — provided enough Haramitsu points have been accumulated. The system is not metaphor. It is the world's actual structure, rendered as procedure.
In this volume, Kago's formal discipline remains intact. Panel architecture is controlled and deliberate, while the surface stays volatile: grotesque humour, abrupt violence, and conceptual interruptions arrive without preparation. References drawn from Western philosophy — Kant among them — and from comics history, including Moebius, sit alongside Eastern doctrinal material. These are used as compositional elements rather than as commentary. The book sustains its pace by withholding comfort at the structural level.
This is the English Edition, first printing, limited to 1,000 copies. The volume runs to 160 pages in large A4 format, with stitched binding and black-and-white offset printing. Editorial credits: Michele Nitri (editor); Nicola "Nic" Alessandrini and Marco Cirillo Pedri (graphic design); Iain Halliday (English translation). Published 2025.

About Shintaro Kago
Shintaro Kago is a Japanese manga artist associated with ero-guro and sustained formal experimentation. His work treats narrative as a mechanism: bodies become systems, the panel grid functions as a visible device capable of enforcing order or collapsing it entirely.
Across the Parasitic City series, Kago extends these methods into long-form world-building. Ethics, desire, and control are rendered as procedures rather than themes — drawn out through the logic of the series' administrative premise rather than resolved through conventional dramatic arcs.
