Assassin Child — Third Edition
Assassin Child is a 32-page large-format comic by Tetsunori Tawaraya, published by Hollow Press in a limited edition of 500 copies. This third edition is printed in silver ink on matte black PLIKE paper — a production choice that reinforces the work's cold, otherworldly register.
The narrative centers on a parasitic species capable of asexual replication and brain parasitism. Their craft crashes on the planet Gwun, a world already in crisis, where a colossal dragon god emerges as an ambiguous force of intervention. The story operates less as plot than as cosmological provocation — bodies colonized, identities dissolved, scale made grotesque.
Tawaraya's linework fills each page with hyper-dense anatomical mutation: limbs that suggest insect, machine, and flesh simultaneously. The silver-on-black printing gives the imagery an almost photographic weight while preserving the rawness of the original draftsmanship. At large format, the visual pressure of each spread is considerable.
Assassin Child sits within the tradition of Surreal & Experimental Comics — adjacent to underground manga, body horror, and speculative fiction, but not reducible to any single category. It is an English-language edition of a work that circulates in limited quantities through specialist channels.

About Tetsunori Tawaraya
Tetsunori Tawaraya is a Japanese artist and musician whose illustrations combine psychedelic density with sci-fi and horror imagery. His draftsmanship is hyper-detailed and formally distinctive — figures mutate across punk, cosmic, and grotesque registers without resolving into any stable aesthetic category.
His publishing history spans underground and institutional contexts alike. He has worked with Hollow Press across multiple titles and with the French publisher Le Dernier Cri, both of which have long supported artist-driven, limited-edition print work. His output includes comics, zines, and standalone illustration projects.
Tawaraya is also the frontman of 2up, a noise-rock band based in Tokyo. The two practices — visual and sonic — share a common interest in overload, distortion, and form pushed to its limits.
