Beksiński: The Collected Works I, ver. 1.2
Beksiński: The Collected Works I, ver. 1.2 — Paintings & Photographs is the first volume in the Pan-Exotica series published by Éditions Treville, Tokyo. This is the new reissued softcover edition, with the copy described here representing the second printing, dated 30 September 2022. The volume reproduces 71 works across 120 A4 pages, encompassing paintings from the 1970s and 1980s alongside photographs from the 1950s. Ver. 1.2 incorporates one additional plate not present in the original ver. 1.0 release. Texts appear in both Japanese and English.
Zdzisław Beksiński (1929–2005)
Zdzisław Beksiński was a Polish painter, photographer, and sculptor born in Sanok in 1929. He studied architecture in Kraków before turning to avant-garde photography, sculpture, and drawing in the 1950s. By the 1960s he had shifted entirely to painting. His first major period is characterized by what he described as utopian realism — expressionistic in colour, populated by distorted figures, architectural ruins, and organic decay. A second period moved toward greater abstraction and formalism. He worked without titling his paintings, resisting interpretive fixity. He was killed in Warsaw in February 2005.

The volume's principal visual content comprises paintings from Beksiński's mature period of the 1970s and 1980s, supplemented by his earlier photographic work from the 1950s. The textual apparatus includes interviews with Beksiński and essays by Piotr Dmochowski and Anna Kania-Saj, presented in bilingual Japanese and English. Translations are credited to Don Kenny, Hajime Fukuda, and Rie Hiraiwa of Atelier Poland. Book design is by chutte; the editor is Kenichi Kawai.
